FAQs

Q?

What is SEO and why do I need it?

A.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the task of improving the position of a website in the search engine results pages (SERPs) such as those found on Google; and ensuring they are as visible as possible by being as high in the results as possible.

Any business that has a website needs to seriously consider SEO to ensure they are found above their competitors. Without implementing some form of SEO strategy, you run the risk of disappearing amongst the thousands of other results and thus, you are effectively invisible to your target audience.

Q?

Why is a high Google ranking so important?

A.

Google now dominates over 85% of search traffic worldwide. Love them or loathe them, they are the “go to” resource when it comes to searching the internet. Bing, Yahoo and a few others make up the numbers but in truth, Google is where you want to be. If you’re not being found on the first few pages of Google, you’re not being found at all!

Q?

How does SEO work?

A.

Search engine optimisation is primarily about identifying good link sources and building quality content that points to your target website. By doing so, this adds a number of authoritative in-bound links to your website which Google will index and reward your site for acquiring by improving your search engine positioning.

Of course, anyone can build links but it is the quality of links that count. Spammy and bulk purchased links can often have the opposite effect and lead to lost ranks and at worst, an algorithmic or manual penalty applied by Google’s Web Spam Team.

Q?

I’ve used an SEO company before and had a bad experience, so why use Rocket SEO®?

A.

Sadly, this is a common problem and we’ve heard some real horror stories. There are literally thousands of companies offering SEO and until recently, most of the poor techniques they used went either unpunished or had little effect. Recent algorithmic changes by Google have identified poor techniques and sites that had used them got hit hard!

At Rocket SEO® we were fully aware of where the industry was headed and thankfully, many of the cheap and untrustworthy businesses have disappeared with their reputations in tatters. It is our full intension to provide only a quality service that gets results buy sticking to the path laid out by Google’s strict Webmaster Guidelines and maintaining our status as a “whitehat” agency that only uses approved link building methods. So when you use us, you can be assured that we only build links that carry trust and authority.

Q?

What is black hat & white hat SEO?

A.

As the names suggest, white hat SEO is the practice of only using link building that stays within the webmaster guidelines outlined by Google. Black hat is aggressive techniques used that are generally frowned upon but can get faster and more prominent results.

So why not use black hat over white hat? If you get caught (and Google are seriously ramping up their efforts to punish sites with black hat links), your website could have a penalty inflected on it. If so, your traffic and online business could literally be destroyed overnight. So do you want to take that risk? We thought not.

Q?

My site was penalised and delisted by Google. Can you help?

A.

In most cases, yes. However, we would need to perform a comprehensive and thorough audit of the links pointing to your website plus the on-site content to identify the cause of the problem. Google unfortunately does not offer full transparency as to why a site gets hit by a penalty and it can take a long time, and in many cases, several months to identify and remove any offending links and content to have a penalty revoked.

But to date, we have had a very good track record of recovering sites that have been hit by penalties and in in most cases, the penalties were revoked.

Q?

What’s the difference between PPC and SEO?

A.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) is ideal if you need to get instant exposure and require page one ranking in a short space of time by placing sponsored adverts on the search results of your choosing. The disadvantage with PPC however, is that once you stop paying for your advertisements, your ranks disappear. It can also get very expensive as the bidding process can spiral out of control.

SEO is a better long term as your rankings will stay in place for a longer period on the natural results which is where you want your business to be. So even if you cease SEO, chances are your ranks will stay right where they are for a very long time.

Both have their pluses and minuses so it is up to the individual business to decide which path is the best to take based on timescales, urgency and budget.

Q?

How do you identify the best keywords for my business?

A.

Initial discussions with you will give us the best understanding of your business, your target audience and your market. Once we have established these essentials, we can then start to research your competition and the keywords that will drive relevant and lucrative traffic to your website via the search engines.

Each business sector has varying degres of competitiveness and search volume so we will select a good balance of high to low compete keywords that will give you the best possible spread and exposure so your customers can find you over your competitors.

Q?

Do I have to sign any fixed term contracts with Rocket SEO®?

A.

No. However, we will always advise on a reasonable period that we feel is necessary to achieve the ranks that you need. SEO can take a few months to really get going as Google and the other search engines can take a while to index links.

There is however, no fixed term contracts and you can cancel at any time you like by giving us 30 days notice.
