The Challenge

With new GDPR legislation quickly approaching, Rock Solid Exhibitions knew they had to change digital marketing strategy from direct email to SEO… and fast!

They contacted us requesting help with their organic Google ranking which was non-existent, with numerous competitors streets ahead of them and disappearing into the distance. They had a massive amount of ground to make up and enlisted us to get to work in helping them get the wheels in motion and to start to rank on search engines so they could wind down their email marketing activities and move towards gaining passive sales leads via search.

We fully knew the exhibitions sector was jam packed with similar businesses all fighting over a limited supply of customers, yet we were thrilled with the opportunity to flex our muscles and get to work on this challenging and exhilarating assignment.

The Strategy

It was very obvious early on that the client’s existing website just wouldn’t do. Outdated, lacking in inspiration and non-user friendly, it was time to condemn it to the scrap heap and start again.

So before we got to work on any marketing strategies, we firstly developed a broad scoped WordPress website that covered all aspects of their exhibition offerings, profiling past work, their full range of exhibition stand packages and USPs in the best light possible, using a design that was dynamic, eye-catching and modern.

Naturally, we made sure the site was optimised to the max and pushed it live as soon as we possibly could. On top of this, we wrote and published a wide range of actionable blog posts to their website which were shared across various social platforms.

These articles quickly gained the attention of various audiences and natural links started to trickle in. Coupled with our own manual link building activities, we knew that it wasn’t long until our hard work would pay us back in rewards.

The Result

The newly developed website immediately had a positive impact, with many identified keywords suddenly ranking on Google search results pages. With the blog filling up with rich, informative content, our keyword reach began to expand rapidly and before long, enquiries started to come in.

As links started to build from high authority sources, our main target keywords started to creep up and the ground their competition had over them was beginning to shrink. As time went on, we gained more and more and eventually, managed to grab top ranks for a number of high compete keywords that brought in qualified traffic and sales leads.

It was hard slog but we managed to achieve our objectives.
